ABOUT The Football Base

Content: The Football Base is a highly developed online resource platform to help coaches plan, implement and evaluate football coaching sessions. The Football Base offers a unique variation of football session topics and football coaching drills suitable for all ages. Whilst the main focus is on football development sessions, the website offers coaching advice, key topics, reflection tools, psychological and physiological interventions and measurement tools to maximize coaching and player performance. At The Football Base there are sessions to suit all types of coaches, whether you are a coach that needs help getting started in football or more experienced coaches who are looking for a variety of new ideas and sessions.

Mission: To educate, inspire and connect coaches to develop their coaching initiatives and assist professional development in all aspects of coaching performance.

Founder: The founder of The Football Base is a current UEFA Qualified football coach with experience in all levels of the game. The founder holds a BSc Degree in Sports Coaching and an MSc in High Performance Coaching. A number of topics have been a key research area including; Sports Psychology, Curriculum Design, Coaching Pedagogy, Motivation behaviors and Growth Mindset.

The purpose of the possession breakout practice is to replicate an attack from wide areas coming in centrally. The practices main focus is based on how the striker receives the ball from this area and how the midfield can then support from centrally or wide (inverted wingers). The decision is placed upon the midfielder to analyse the opponents and their teammate (striker) to know when to play the pass.
